Atlas FAQ
Is an account required?
No. Atlas does not require an account, login, or Atlas cloud sync for version 1.
Where is travel data stored?
Atlas stores your travel map, visits, trips, wishlist, goals, imports, and settings on your device. Your data leaves Atlas only when you choose to export, share, back up, restore, or use Apple/system features required for maps, geocoding, purchases, iCloud Drive backups, widgets, and similar OS services.
Does Atlas upload photos?
No. Photo Import checks dates and locations in the photos you grant access to. Original photos are not uploaded by Atlas.
What happens when Photos access is denied?
Atlas still works. You can add visits manually and use the core map, trips, wishlist, stats, backup, export, restore, and delete tools.
Is iCloud backup the same as sync?
No. Automatic iCloud Drive snapshots are opt-in backup files. They do not merge changes between devices and they do not replace local data unless you explicitly restore a backup.
Can Atlas data be deleted?
Yes. Atlas includes local delete-all-data controls. Deleting data removes local Atlas records from the device. Files you already exported, shared, or backed up outside the app may still exist wherever you saved them.
What does Atlas Pro unlock?
Atlas Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks advanced compare overlays, premium map styles, the Home Screen World Progress widget, trip PDF export, Pro share templates, and an advanced goal template.
How does Atlas Pro restore work?
Open Atlas settings or the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. Restore uses the Apple Account that bought Atlas Pro. Atlas backup files do not transfer a Pro entitlement.
Why does Explore load images?
Explore country cards can load public country photos from Wikimedia Commons and open public attribution or license pages. Atlas does not include your local visits, notes, photos, or settings in those image or attribution requests.
How does support work?
Email support@stammentech.com with your Atlas app version, iOS or iPadOS version, device model, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead. Do not send private photos, backups, or location files unless you intentionally want them reviewed for support.
Atlas is made by Stammen Technology.
